Why Community Matters More Than Competition
I recently attended a local networking event (https://www.facebook.com/events/857637127298984) and was reminded how important it is to be in spaces where connection feels genuine, not transactional. As a couples therapist and relationship coach based in Lexington, I value environments where people can slow down, be present, and build meaningful relationships—both in business and in life. If you’re looking for more intentional community like this, I’d love to connect.

Why Community Matters More Than Competition
Reflections from a Local Networking Event
Recently, I attended a local networking event:
https://www.facebook.com/events/857637127298984
The event was hosted by Reanna Wendt, who works through eXp Realty and her vision for creating intentional spaces for women was felt the moment you walked into the room. You could tell this wasn’t just about networking—it was about building something meaningful.
What stood out most was the sense of community being created in real time, where the focus wasn’t on competition or trying to stand out, but instead on collaboration, support, and a genuine curiosity about what each person was building.
There was a noticeable shift away from the usual pressure to prove something, and instead a willingness to share ideas, encourage one another, and engage in conversations that felt more real than transactional—something that feels increasingly rare and deeply needed.
In many spaces, especially in business, there can be an unspoken belief that there is limited room for success, which quietly places people in competition with one another, but what this room reflected was something different—the understanding that growth expands when we collaborate, support one another, and allow community to be part of the process.
As a couples therapist and relationship coach based in Lexington, I often see how disconnection forms not because people don’t care, but because they feel like they have to navigate everything on their own, and the same can be true in business, where isolation becomes normalized even when connection is what we’re needing most.
Being in a space like this was a reminder that whether in relationships or in business, we are not meant to do this alone, and that there is real strength in choosing collaboration over competition and community over isolation.
And what also stood out to me is that this is the kind of energy Reanna Wendt brings into her work as well. If you are looking for a realtor who is not only passionate about helping you find a home, but also about helping you find a sense of community, she is someone you want in your corner—someone who will truly advocate for you throughout the process.
Spaces like the ones she is creating are a reflection of what’s possible when people come together with intention, and it’s something I hope to see more of—not just in business, but in the way we build connection in every area of our lives.
If you’ve been looking for spaces like this, where collaboration and community are at the center, you’re not alone—and if you want to be part of it, I’d love to connect.
